This six week course is $25, plus $75 for materials Wed., Sept 9: "Governance of an Association" - Definition of terms, governing documents, governing law, the role of board members, review of board decisions, the use of committees and commissions, unit owner responsibilities, rules and legal audits. Faculty: TBA Wed., Sept 16: "Administration of an Association" - managing properties, professional plans, role of team members, budgets, contracts, handling funds, management reports, and communication. Faculty: TBA Wed., Sept. 23: "Meetings/Elections of an Association" - annual meetings, election of the board, meeting notices, quorum requirements, proxies, voting by mail, who is entitled to vote, distribution and registration of ballots, cumulative and non-cumulative voting, secret ballots, counting and tallying votes, recounts, board meetings and owner meetings. Faculty: TBA Wed., Sept. 30: "Financial Aspects of an Association" - board responsiblity, legal requirements, internal controls, financial records, financial reporting standards, financial oversight and tax filings. Faculty: Mark Cantey, CPA of Canty and Associates Wed., Oct. 7: "Risk Management/Insurance of an Association" - property and liability financial exposure, five-step process for identifying risk, disaster management, resident expectations, legal requirements, policy evaluation, deductibles, fidelity bonds, contractor protections and claims. Faculty: Barbara Wick of CARMIC, LLC Wed., Oct. 14: "Physical Aspects of an Association" - major building components, non-buildng components, managing physical aspects, preventive maintenance, managing liabilty , building codes, annd planning for major capital asset projects.
