General conference information:

  • The Trade Show which is open to the general public at no charge opens at 8 a.m. and closes at noon.
  • Education Seminar Cost (Good for any of the four sessions being offered!!!): ACTHA Member Rate: $ 25 per person or $ 20 per person if sending three or more from the same association, Non-member Rate: $45 per person

Educational programs:



ACTHA will offer two tracks of educational programming. Attendees are able to select one of two choices for the time period 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and noon - 1 p.m. There will an opportunity to visit vendor booths, network and enjoy a continental breakfast.

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. (select from one of the two choices below):

 

  1. Tunrover Goes Bad: The Property is Disintegrating Around Us - After turnover, reality sets in and the findings can be devastating. The builder is gone and not there to honor their promises and fix the problems. Is a lawsuit the answer? Who can hlep and advise when there are lmited funds available to solve building issues. Presenters: George Pilja and Doug Palandech of Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff PC and Mark Waldman of Waldman Engineering Consultants
  2. Maintain, Repair and Replace: Who Pays? - Where do association boards look for the answer? This session will outline association responsibilities and sort out who pays for what: whether it was the responsiblity of the association, an owner causing damage or an owner suffering damage. Also addressed are how these scenarios are impacted when negligence has occurred. Presenters: Stuart Fullett of Fosco Fullett Rosenlund PC and Joel Davis of CAU

 


Noon - 1 p.m. (select from one of two choices below):

  1. FHA & Financing Issues: To Certify or Not, That is the Question - This session will cover the steps involved in certifying your association for FHA approval and its pro's and con's. Various other issues preventing lenders from approving loans in associations, such as delinquency rates, owner/tenant occupancy ratios and reserve funding will be addressed as well. Presenters: Don Kekstadt of Leberman Management and Kerry Bartell of Kovitz Shifrn Nesbit
  2. Reserves and Investment Strategies: Play it Safe or Gamble - This session will guide board members and illustrate which financial instruments would satisfy the needs of safeguarding your reserve and being compliant with the requirements of the Illinois law and your association documents. Presenters: Craig Finck of Harris and Steve Silberman of Frost Ruttenberg and Rothblatt
