Educational programs:ACTHA will offer three tracks of educational programming. Attendees are able to select one of threechoices for the time period 8:15 – 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 - 12:45 p.m. From 9:45 – 11:15 a.m., there will an opportunity to visit vendor booths, network and enjoy a continental breakfast.
8:15 – 9:45 a.m. (select from one of the two choices below):- Meetings of an Association* This session will cover but is not limited to: elections, notice, quorum, proxy voting, candidate forums, secret ballots, tallying the vote, board and owner meetings Speaker: David Bendoff of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit
- Developer Turnover Issues-So What Do We Do Now? This session will use real life experiences to describe all too frequent problems occurring in turnovers from the developer. Starting from the anticipation of the turnover, you may uncover sweetheart contracts, poor construction, inadequate finances, as well as establishing proper procedures. Panelists: Angela Falzone and Shirley Feldmann of Association Advocates and John Bickley of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit
11:15 – 12:45 p.m. (select from one of two choices below):- Financial Aspects of an Association* This session will cover but is not limited to: board fiduciary responsibility, internal controls, reporting standards, oversight function, State and Federal tax law, audits Speaker: Mark Cantey of Mark Cantey and Associates
- Community Association Lifestyle-Beyond All Your Expectations Living in a community association includes both benefits and restrictions and defines your lifestyle. Maintenance responsibilities may be the obligation of either the association or owner. Topics will include communications, occupancy by owners or tenants, the role of owners and the board, and who makes the decisions. Panelists: Marshall Dickler of Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd., Denise Edenhofer of Westfield Lakes Condominium Association and Dixie Hahn of All the Difference
* Astericked sessions are part of “Learn and Lead” - ACTHA’s Certification Program for community association owners. Anyone may attend these sessions, but if you are interested in pursuing your “ACTHA Certified Leader” standing, there is a nominal surcharge for doing so. You also must be pre-registered.
General conference information:- Registration opens at 8 a.m. (Note: There is an additional charge of $20 per person if registering at the door)
- ACTHA Member Registration: $35 per person or $30 per person if sending three or more from the same association; if registering for “Learn and Lead” certification program there is an additional charge of $20 for both courses that day)
- Non-member Registration: $75 per person; $100 per course for the “Learn and Lead” certification program or $200 for both courses that day

- Parking is free and location most convenient! The Holiday Inn is close to I-55, I-355 and I-57. Located right off I-80, exit at Larkin Ave. going north. The Holiday Inn Conference Center will be on the west side where you will turn left at the first light.
