2019 is the year of the Triennial Reassessment in Cook County and the Quadrennial Reassessment in Lake County. All of Cook County’s North and Northwest Suburban Townships are being totally reassessed for real estate tax purposes, as occurs once every three (3) years. In Lake County the entire county is being reassessed for real estate tax purposes, as occurs once every four (4) years. What this means for condominium and homeowner association unit/lot owners will be discussed. 


SCOTT LINN is an attorney and the owner of the Law Office of Scott J. Linn, LLC which is located in Deerfield, IL. Mr. Linn received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. Previous to entering private law practice Mr. Linn served as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General. Mr. Linn has been in private law practice for over 30 years and presently is the owner of the Law Office of Scott J. Linn, LLC. The office is primarily devoted to representing clients involving real estate tax matters. The office’s services include: (1) annually reviewing a client’s real estate tax situation; and (2) filing assessment appeals on behalf of residential, commercial and multi-unit property owners in relation to properties located throughout the Chicago Metropolitan Area, including Cook and Lake County.

Mr. Linn has lectured and been a seminar panelist in relation to various real estate law topics. Among the organizations and groups he has spoken before are the Association of Condominium, Townhouse and Homeowners Associations (ACTHA), the Community Associations Institute (CAI), the Real Estate Institute, the Women’s Council of Realtors and Marcum Accountants and Advisors. Further, he has been interviewed and quoted by both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times concerning various issues pertaining to real estate law.

Mr. Linn is a member of several organizations, including ACTHA, the International Association of Assessing Officers, the Illinois State Bar Association-- where he is a member of both the Real Estate Law and the Local Taxation Sections and the Women’s Council of Realtors.
